Newsflash

BUCKEYES 45 - MARSHALL 7...AND THEY'RE OFF!

Our beloved Buckeyes had 14 points before we got our 1st Iced Tea...but the food came, the Buckeyes played, and the season has begun!  The Bucks are 1-0 with a 45-7 drubbing of "We Are Marshall".  We showed some weaknesses in special teams, but the defense lived up to its reputation, not allowing a point.  Next week---the Miami Ducks...so join us at Fuddruckers for the game and let's root our OSU team on to a Championship!

The Nutshell is the official e-newsletter for Ohio State alumni club and society officers and board members. The current issue is available at http://www.ohiostatealumni.org/resources/clubs-societies/Pages/TheNutshell.aspx.   Check it out!! Articles on important dates, awards, and reunions!  Go Bucks!!

See how OSU has "Connected" to the world with a story about what Coach Tressel and QB Terrell Pryor think about 2010 Buckeye football.

Congrats to Amanda Kraguljac for winning the OSU Pennant signed by #45 for being one of 40 early dues payers.  Thanks to all who have made this club a solid organization again for the 2010-2011.  We are a great Club and getting better!!

Breaking News...Alamo Club Selected as 2010 "GOLD STAR" Alumni Club!!  Randy Larson Selected as 2010 Club All Star!!

On Saturday, Oct 23rd, after the Purdue (11am-2pm) gamewatch, I ask you to join me as an OSU Alamo Alumni Team in a short 1.5 Walk downtown to support the Lukemia and Lymphoma Society during their Light the Night Cure for Cancer fundraising event.  More details to follow, but if we can bring a gamewatch number of people for the walk, all wearing their Scarlet and Grey, just think of the impact to the community.  Or how many Buckeyes will know of our existence and join us!  Would be a great night for a great cause, battling cancer.  More info to follow-but save the date, 23 Oct at 5PM starting at Hemisfair Park.

It's a long season, and the Buckeyes are starting to feel the bumps and bruises, but they just keep doing what is needed to rack up the wins.  Sunday, Samantha Prahalis scored 23 points and Jantel Lavender added 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the fifth-ranked Buckeyes past the Hoosiers by a score of 81-64.  At 19-1, the Lady Bucks travel to Michigan on Thursday to get to that magical 20 win number.  Good Luck Buckeyes, beat the Maize and Blue!!

Our beloved Buckeyes had a great year overall, with only a hiccup against a feisty Purdue team and an early year close one with USC.  Recognized for their big win in the Rose Bowl, our OSU Buckeyes are # 5 in Final Polls!  Bowl season was one of the Big Ten's best in years, going 4-3 with all three BCS bowls being Big Ten victories!!  The 2009 Big Ten Champs will lose some good seniors and players like Gibson to the NFL, we WILL have a fantastic team for the 2010 season!  Can't Wait!!!  GO BUCKS!

Bucks take the Rose PDF Print E-mail

Turns out despite a bad leg, and a pressure-packed need for this program to win a BCS bowl...nothing was wrong with the Buckeyes' sophomore quarterback that winning the Rose Bowl couldn't cure.  Despite some hesitency to run, some throws that looked like "ducks", Pryor took enough control, and made enough runs and throws to put points on the board.  Enough points to allow the vaunted Buckeye defense to make the big plays to win.  It was a great game, and with Wisconsin and PSU winning, puts the Big Ten in position to redeem its poor showing  in the recent past.

Rose Bowl Game Watch - New Years Day, 3:30PM at the Fudd! PDF Print E-mail

Why go to Fuddruckers to watch the Rose Bowl with the OSU Alamo Alumni Club?  Here are a few reasons:

1.  Get some fresh air after partying all night celebrating a Bold, Fresh New Year!  Roll down the windows as you drive to Fuddruckers and sing "Hang on Sloopy" to passing motorists!

2.  Join fellow OSU Alumni and Fans to cheer on our beloved Buckeyes to Rose Bowl victory! Maybe send a large jolt of Kharma to Pasadena.

3.  Great food.  We will be getting a special Beat the Ducks meal deal.  More on that later.

4.  Halftime raffle:  We were lucky to have donated to us two great items (More on the donation later) to add to an already very nice group of raffle items.  First, a signed/numbered 1985 etching of University Hall.   Second, a 1970 porcelain Decanter commemorating the OSU Centennial showing the old South end of the Shoe, University Hall and Orton Hall on it.  Both should be considered collectors items:

100_1833  GO BUCKEYES!  Items donated by Mr John Ellis of Georgetown, TX on behalf of his father Stan, a proud veteran and a proud alumni of The Ohio State University.  Thank you John, we are all proud of your father's service to this great country!100_1834
